Barbara Sugaya-Jones (1953–)
Twice named Fall River Joint Unified School District's Teacher of the Year, Barbara Sugaya-Jones has taught science at Fall River Junior/Senior High School for over 20 years and is in her 38th year of teaching. She grew up with San Francisco's city lights, did her undergraduate studies and credential program at UC Davis, taught a year in London on a Fulbright Exchange and has dedicated most of her career to teaching in small, rural schools. Described as having high standards for her students, Sugaya-Jones' pedagogy makes learning science interesting even as she challenges students to reach their full potential.
