The America's Newspapers database provides access to full-text articles from over 550 newspapers throughout the United States, including over 100 California titles.

Business Source Complete contains full text journals in all business disciplines. Non-journal content includes company profiles, financial data, industry reports, market research reports and Morningstar reports.
MasterFILE Premier

MEDLINE with Full Text
Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE allows users to search for journal articles in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine and health care. The complete text is provided for nearly 1,200 journals indexed in MEDLINE.
Safari Tech Books Online
Safari Tech Books Online provides access to the electronic versions of thousands of books from industry-leading technical publishers such as O'Reilly & Associates, Addison-Wesley Professional, Adobe Press, Cisco Press, Peachpit Press, Sun Microsystems Press, Que, Sams and Microsoft Press. This collection covers a wide range of topics, including E-Commerce, IT Management, Markup Languages, Networking, Operating Systems, Programming, Security and Web Design, to help with virtually any programming or technical issue.
Wall Street Journal
The The Wall Street Journal is considered the preeminent publication for business news and information on financial markets worldwide. The electronic edition of the Wall Street Journal is popular in a variety of research environments because users can quickly access not only top news stories about companies, people and products, but also detailed information from all the paper's sections including editorials, letters to the editor, stock and bond prices and currency exchange rates from 1984 to present.

State Workforce and Training Books and Videos

The California State Library has a large collection of state workforce and training videos available for loan to state employees. It includes such topics as; interviewing skills, supervision, motivation, communication skills, management techniques, teamwork, presentations, and many other workplace topics. State employees with a California State Library borrower card and signed Video Agreement on file are eligible to borrow these videos. Lists of available titles, as well as "FAQ's on Borrowing Training Videos" are available to help in accessing and using the collection.

A popular collection at the California State Library is our collection of Civil Service Exam study guides. The library has exam books for a wide variety of jobs such as, Accountants, Auditors, Correction Officers, Health Program Analysts, Highway Patrolmen, Office Technicians, Staff Services Analysts and many others. There is an alphabetical list of the Civil Service Exam study guides we have posted online at http://www.library.ca.gov/statetraining/workforce.html. These exam study guides can be borrowed by state employees with a California State Library borrower card and are loaned for one week.

The California State Library was created before California became a State, so the library's collection has been accumulated over many years. As well as new materials, the Information Services Section has a large collection of books and periodicals on many topics published from the 1800s forward.
World Languages Collection

This collection of more than 25,000 titles in Arabic, Asian, European, Hispanic, Indic, Scandinavian, and Slavic languages contains fiction and non-fiction in both original works and translations from English. The California State Library collects and circulates these materials as a service to libraries serving residents who speak other languages. List of the titles in this collection.

Anyone is welcome to visit the Information Services Section and use the resources. The Information Services Section is located in the Library and Courts II building located at 900 N Street between 9th and 10th Streets in downtown Sacramento. The Information Services Section is on the first floor in Room 100.
Hours are Monday – Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., excluding California state holidays.
