  • Press Release – Retired attorney George Basye speaking on “Sacramento River’s ‘renegade’ flood control system and why we are lucky to have it.”

  • The California Research Bureau announces the release of its report California Charter Oversight: Key Elements and Actual Costs.  This report explores the practices of charter school authorizers in California and provides options for improving oversight practices.  The report is available at http://www.library.ca.gov/crb/12/12-001.pdf.

  • CA Demographics Cover Page
    The State Library launches a new online resource, California Demographic Profiles: By Library Jurisdiction and County -- a tool to help facilitate a greater understanding of how California's changing demographic characteristics can be used to inform library decisions and services.

  • Studies in the News, a free e-mail service for state policymakers and their staffs, has been relaunched by the State Library's California Research Bureau. SITN provides links to objective, non-partisan reports, articles, and court rulings on public policy issues that impact Californians.   • The 100th issue of the California State Library Foundation Bulletin includes a brief history of the Bulletin, a review of l’Art Culinaire, and an overview of interesting public transit materials in our collections.
  • New exhibit: The Library & Courts Building: Celebrating an Architectural Jewel. Photographs, sketches and blueprints for both the neoclassical Stanley Mosk Building and the original site of the State Library in the Capitol Building are on display.

Visit Us

    Full information services for the California State Library are available at 900 N Street during renovation of the Stanley Mosk Library and Courts Building. Information Services, Government Publications, Witkin State Law Library, and the Braille & Talking Book Library are all located in Room 100 on the first floor. Online resources and frequently-used print resources are readily available; other materials may need to be paged from off site.

    The California History Room continues to provide history and genealogy information services in Room 200 on the second floor at 900 N Street.
