  • At the request of the California Assembly Committee on Aging and Long-term Care, the California Research Bureau releases a new short subject Californians 65 and over in the Labor Force. e 1980, whether because of longer life spans, increased financial need, or for other reasons, the labor force participation of Californians who are ages 65+ has increased by 6 to 7 percentage points.

  • Press Release – California State Library's Transforming Life After 50 website receives international award for Active Aging Marketing Campaign.
  • California Research Bureau announces the release of a new short brief, HIV/AIDS in California, 2012 Update. This brief finds that 1 in 268 Californians is currently infected with HIV. The rate of infection differs significantly between racial groups. The Black population in California experiences infection at three times the rate of California's White population and nine times that of the state's Asian population.
