- At the request of the California Assembly Committee on Aging and Long-term Care, the California Research Bureau releases a new short subject Californians 65 and over in the Labor Force. e 1980, whether because of longer life spans, increased financial need, or for other reasons, the labor force participation of Californians who are ages 65+ has increased by 6 to 7 percentage points.

In honor of Women's History Month, the California State Library and Commission on the Status of Women and Girls created online calendar of women from California history who achieved success in STEM fields.
- The State Library's California Research Bureau has released a series of short subjects on risk factors impacting healthy aging among California's African Americans, Asian Pacific Islanders, Latinos, and Whites ages 50 and over.
- California Research Bureau presents brief, "Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act: General Guidelines", which provides basic information about how to include the public in Bagley-Keene eligible meetings and when Bagley-Keene applies.
- California Research Bureau releases brief, "Women and Healthy Aging", which presents an overview of health issues experienced by California women ages 50 and over.
- California Research Bureau releases brief on Women Veterans and Homelessness.
- Press Release – California State Library's Transforming Life After 50 website receives international award for Active Aging Marketing Campaign.
- California Research Bureau announces the release of a new short brief, HIV/AIDS in California, 2012 Update. This brief finds that 1 in 268 Californians is currently infected with HIV. The rate of infection differs significantly between racial groups. The Black population in California experiences infection at three times the rate of California's White population and nine times that of the state's Asian population.
