Information and Reference
Everyone is welcome to visit the California State Library
and use our resources.
Each section of the Library has an information desk. Inquiries can be submitted in person, by telephone, fax or email. If the information you need is not available at the California State Library, our librarians can refer you to other state agencies and additional information sources.
Requesting Library Materials
You can locate the author, title, and call number of items in the California State Library collections in the Online Catalogs. Most of the Library's materials are housed in closed stacks (non-public areas). Staff will retrieve stack items for you while you wait. The California State Library loans materials to the public through the interlibrary loan program. For additional information, please see our Borrowing Library Materials page.
Photocopy machines and microfilm reader/printers are available in the Braille and Talking Book Library, California History Room and the West Sacramento location.
