The California State Library in partnership with Women in California Politics (WICP) presented an exhibit celebrating the first 100 years of women serving in the California Legislature. In November 1918 the first four women were elected to office, and in the century that followed (1918–2018) a total of 157 women have served in the state’s legislature. In 2018, we celebrated and honored these women, both past and present, for their service and dedication to the people of California.
Please note: This exhibit has been preserved as it was originally presented in 2018 and does not include updates to legislative service or biographic information since then.
