Career Online High School Resources
The California State Library is currently accepting interest forms from California public libraries to participate in the Career Online High School Program. (Adults aged 19 years or older who are interested in enrolling in Career Online High School may apply on the Career Online High School website.)
For libraries joining the program for the first time and currently participating programs, scholarships will be provided by the State Library on an as-needed basis. A local match is no longer required for libraries to participate in the Career Online High School program.
Career Online High School is an educational service offered by Smart Horizons Career Online Education that offers adults the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma and credentialed career certificate at the same time. In this program offered by the California State Library, libraries receive support to offer free COHS scholarships in their communities. Please see “Process to Participate” information below.
Process to Participate
Before you indicate interest in participating: Read the COHS FAQ document carefully.
Because you will have to complete your online interest form in a single session, we strongly suggest that you refer to the print version of the application and develop your answers before going online.
Please express your interest in participating in the Career Online High School program by completing the Career Online High School Interest Form.
Interest Form Deadline for New Programs
Interest forms are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Each participating library receives:
- COHS scholarships provided by the California State Library on an as-needed basis
- An individualized COHS website providing program information and a student enrollment portal
- Access to the COHS data management system
- Customized outreach materials and marketing support from Smart Horizons Career Online Education
- Intensive training and ongoing technical assistance
Program Expectations
A participating library will provide staff time and brief data collection to complete short report forms documenting the library’s financial commitment and additional outputs for the COHS program. Please see COHS Final Report Data Collection Guidelines for more information.
