First Partner’s Summer Book Club
Take part in the First Partner’s Summer Book Club! Check out a Book Club book (or several!) at your local library, where you can participate in summer programs that are free for everyone and are a great way for children and teens to keep reading and stay engaged during the summer months.
The Book Club will run for eight weeks beginning June 10, 2024. The 24 books selected for the Book Club are divided into five groups ranging from preschool to twelfth grade and expose readers to important social and emotional concepts and highlights values such as diversity, equity, and inclusion. Copies of the Book Club books will be available for check out at public libraries around the state.

Book to Action
New for this year, California public libraries are incorporating Summer Book Club titles into Book to Action programs, which offer opportunities for lifelong learning, community connection, and civic action. Book to Action takes the book club concept of everyone reading the same book and expands on it by encouraging participants to take “action” by engaging in community service projects and/or civic engagement activities related to the shared book.
